6. Special Session (Chairman: Professor Bezalel Haimson)
- Difficulties with the Hydraulic Fracturing Method, and novel approaches to the measurement of in situ stress through boreholes
This session emphasizes the limitations of the method and how to overcome them in your practice, or how to improve the method. Professor Bezalel Haimson (U. of Wisconsin, USA), Prof. M. Zoback (Stanford U., USA), Prof. J.C Roegiers (U. of Oklahoma, USA), Prof. F. Cornet (Institut de Physique du Globe de Strasbourg, France), Prof. T. Ito (Tohoku U., Japan), Prof. K. Evans (Federal Institute of Technology, Switzerland), Prof. T. Doe (Golder Assoc., USA), Dr. D. Ask (Vattenfall Power Consultant AB, Sweden), F. Song (MIT, USA) and other international experts will contribute to this special session.
After this special session, there will a Panel debate entitled "The Future of Deep In Situ Stress Measurements Through Boreholes"(Thechairman: Professor Bezalel Haimson). The Panel will consist of all the invitees of the special session, and it will be conducted in front of the entire Symposium audience, and will first include statements from the panel members, followed by questions from the audience and answers from the panel.
