General Information
About Beijing
Beijing, the capital of China, is China's political, economic and cultural center. It is unique in history, tradition and characteristics. Some 3000 years ago, a small city appeared on the present site of southwest of Beijing. From the 12th Century to 1911, it was the capital of Jin, Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties. Now, it is shaping itself into a modern metropolis on the 16,800 square kilometers with a population of 13 million. You will find the city an unforgettable destination, with its ancient Great Wall, the Forbidden City, the numerous palaces telling legends of dynasties long lost in the mist of history. Moreover, the city has refreshed its complexion by the growing numbers of parks and recreational centers, the folk shows of holiday celebrations, the splendid theatrical stages, and the grand city outlook.
Arrival in Beijing
Transportation in Beijing is convenient with buses, taxis, light rail, underground subway etc,.
Bus: The bus ride in Beijing costs about RMB1-RMB6 depending on distance. Most city buses run from 5:30am to 22:00pm.
Taxi: Taxi service is available at everywhere in the city the whole day. The cost from the airport to the conference venue is about RMB130-150 Yuan enclosed the extra highway fee 10 Yuan/car. Please do ask for the receipt from the driver.
Light rail: The full fare is about RMB3.
Passport and Visa
A valid passport and visa for visiting China are required. You can apply for an entry visa at the Chinese Embassy or the nearest consulate general.
Visa Invitation Form issued by CICCST will be sent to you on followings:
1. Make on-line registration (especially exactly fax number, mailing address)
2. Pay the registration fee
3. Make hotel reservation in case the Embassy ask for

Weather
August in Beijing is sunny and hot. The average daily temperature is about 28°C (82°F), with the high at around 33°C (91°F) and low at around 22°C (71°F).
Insurance
The registration fee does not include insurance for the participants regarding accidents, sickness or loss of personal property. It is advisable to make your own arrangements in respect of health and travel insurance before leaving your countries.
Currency Exchange

In China, only RMB is used. However, exchange centers can be found at airports, most hotels and large shopping centers. The exchange rate is due to the official rate (Bank of China). When exchanging money, please keep your receipt by which you can change any remaining RMB back to foreign currency when leaving China. Visa, Master, American Express are accepted in many department stores and hotels. ATM could help you for changing RMB from your credit card.
Reconfirmation of Air Ticket
Departure air ticket (both international and domestic) should be reconfirmed 72 hours in advance. Calling the airline office in Beijing could make it. But these offices do not work in weekend.
